CNN Anchor Kyra Phillips Turns Bad Press Into A Win…

March 1st, 2008 by toshiba27af433849

How do you come out a winner when the bad press you get is national and it’s all over the Internet in 24 hours?

A winner is someone like Kyra Phillips, CNN anchor who accidentally took a microphone into the bathroom and then went on David Letterman to redeem herself.

Her reaction was on a scale with the bad press she got: national.

No matter where the bad press comes from, from the local paper to the national media, you can come out a winner if you adopt a transparent attitude, a sense of humor, if you’re authentic and if you have confidence.

Everyone goofs up once in a while. Companies also goof up once in a while. Maybe they overhyped the product, as a local paper accused Mannatech of doing.

But that accusation, even if true, doesn’t change what the product has done for anyone over the past 10 years, does it?

Hype and promises can kill good products.

Stick with YOUR story and the stories you know. That’s all I’d need. After all, everyone says their science and technology is the best. What matters first to me is whether it WORKS for me. Everything else is either second or irrelevant.

P.S. Silly comments like “It’s just a sugar pill” are usually from people with an agenda or axe to grind, on a par with “Oh, it’s just pond scum.” Like “the iPod is just another fad gadget,” from the lips of a competitor.

This Movie is a Real Heart Stopper, So Grab Your Defibrillator!

February 29th, 2008 by toshiba27af433849

At first glance you see the name Robert England and there is a glimmer of hope! This movie does make your heart beat, but will you go flat line? Will you need a sexy young nurse to resuscitate you? If your a horror movie enthusiast, grab your cell phone and tell some friends to come over! Make sure they bring their straight jackets!

Yes! Many will call this a cheesy horror movie flick! One thing you should know before you start flogging tomatoes at your tv screen, is that you get to see Robert England! There have been rumors of a Freddy Krueger come back, but it has not surfaced to the big screen. When the Freddy Krueger movies came out, I was just a teen, and the first one scared the abyss out of me!

The filming in this movie was well done, and the acting was average, but if you like a lot of blood, the movie does deliver. The tag line for the movie is: Each beat may be your last… In the movie’s defense, I will say it is better than most of the direct to dvd videos on the market. It is hard to have your expectations met easily, with a B flick! I was just happy to see Robert England, since he is a horror movie icon from my teenage years! Freddy Krueger did leave a nice deep gashing wound on our gray matter with his razor sharp blades!

I have to agree with other comments online, that the plot is hurting and bleeding from the heart! Again, the movie is worth it just to see Robert England! Anything with him in it will be a collectible! Good or Bad! The movie just keeps moving at a fast pace in most sequences, and the girl who plays the main character is attractive. Sara Wexler(Meredith Henderson) plays a teenager who was not going to make it through high school. Incidentally, Meredith Henderson is from Canada and I have noticed some very hot women, starring in horror movies from Canada!

The pressure of her classmates calling her names, nearly lead to a successful suicide attempt, which opened the doors for Mr. Satanic Serial-Killer(James Binkley) to choose his sexy young victim. What he called his vessel, because his body needed a new one fast! I cannot help it! I have to see at least one hot girl in a horror movie, because it actually helps me make it through the boring parts, to the next scene!

Not to bring you back to any bad memories, but I am sure your reading this, and can recall some horrific teen experience. Maybe a bad relationship, demanding teacher, over protective parent, friends getting killed in an accident, and remember riding your bike while a rabid dog is chasing you! I can see the foam building around the lips of the demon dog now! Hence, the one good point of this heart stopping horror flick, is those lovely, unforgettable teenage years! My dad always said if you live through your teenage years, your lucky!

Chambers (James Binkley) plays a good psychopath role and he reminds me of a sick and twisted Vin Diesel, recovering from rehab. He does present a powerful masculine deep voice and is voracious with his killing spree. When you watch this movie, you will notice he does a good job for a B movie. This is the first movie, where I have seen so many bloody hearts, that I lost count! If you love seeing someone with a cool tattoo, strong muscular build, stick his hand like a spear, into a persons chest and rip out a fresh pumping, blood spurting heart, then you have a winner! This movie really does get to the heart of the matter.

Does this movie have its finger on the kill switch? I will let you be the judge of that! I know there is some soul out there, lurking in the deep shadows of the night, waiting, yes, waiting for the ultimate horror movie, the one that will touch you as Freddy Krueger first did and leave you in the tender arms of Michael Myers of Halloween. In the mean time, we take them as they come. I had a mortician once tell me, that there is a lot of stiff competition out there! The horror directors need to stand up, take Viagra and rise to the occasion for a plot, that kills us!

Conveyance Become Reasonable through Online Auto Loans

February 29th, 2008 by toshiba27af433849

Applying auto loan through online is the most convenient way to procure finances. Information technology has made several task of applying loan easier. Such as:

?Locating lenders offering online auto loan
?Comparing them
?and finally applying for the loan

It is generally seen that the lender also gives priority to online application for approval. The reason is that applying through online involves very low and negligible processing and overhead costs.

For applying online auto loan the person is required to fill an application form in which he is required to furnish certain details such as name, address, flow of income, financial status, credit score, his employment and amount required for financing etc. After furnishing all the details, the lender sees that the applicant fulfils all the criterion of the loan or not. And if he finds an applicant eligible for the loan in such case he sent a loan quote to applicant and approves the loan amount.

Once their amount gets approves, it is automatically transferred to the borrower’s account. And, it totally depends on the borrower that how he uses the loan amount in other words whether he can go for used automobile or new automobile. When the borrower gets the loan amount, along with the finances, an obligation is also attached with it. That is, the borrower is obliged to make all the timely repayments. And, anyhow if he fails to do so, in such case the lender can take legal action in order to realise his part of payment.

People with poor credit score are generally denied for the auto loan in the financial market but now they can also avail online auto loan despite of their bad credit. It is possible that they will be offered with bit high rate of interest but by availing online auto loan, they can improve their credit score by making timely payments.

As said that online is the convenient way of applying auto loan but it is also known for its cost effectiveness as very low cost is involved in it. There are certain factors which make the cost of online auto loans more competitive. Some of them factors are:

?collateral being offered
?good credit score
?co-signer( if the person have bad credit score)

If the person consider, these above points while availing online auto loan definitely the best and cheap deal will come to his way.

What You Need to Know about iPod Movies

February 28th, 2008 by toshiba27af433849

iPod devices that are equipped with video players must have the movies from their original format converted to one that can be read and played by the iPod movie player system. This means that the movie can either be downloaded from an iPod-friendly site such as the Apple iPod Store or another website dedicated to iPod music and movies, or the user must purchase the appropriate conversion software. Most of the iPod movie conversion systems can convert most types of movie files such as AVI, MPEG, WMV, MOV, MP4, RM, RMVB, H.264, VOB or DivX formats into the MPEG-4 video format that the iPod uses.

In addition to just converting the format, the system must also match the resolution of the iPod movie player. The typical resolution for the iPod display screen is 640 by 480 for optimum viewing and clarity of picture. Without the appropriate software conversion, the picture would be highly distorted. Other resolutions are possible and the software application will usually optimize the file for viewing, selecting the appropriate resolution.

There is also a great program offered by Apple, called QuickTime 7 Pro, that allows you to use home videos and videos that are not professionally made and convert them to play on your iPod, just like an iPod movie that you can download. This is a great way to personalize your iPod video, or send a home movie to a friend or family member.

The process is simple: start by downloading the QuickTime 7 Pro from the Apple website. If you have a Mac computer, simply upload your movie to your computer and click on the title of the movie in the drop down box found on the QuickTime program menu. If you have a PC, upload the movie from the device as per the manuals and then save it in the QuickTime file. Once the movie is selected you will again need to use the drop down box and select the export feature, then click on Movie to iPod and let the computer do the rest.

A scrolling bar will keep you informed of the transfer process and will allow you to see how much more time is required for the transfer to occur. You will then need to synch the iPod with the computer to play the movie the first time, then it will be stored on both your computer and the iPod for future use.

The vast number of iPod movies and the ease of using the conversion software means that more people, even those that are not experts on the computer, can easily keep their favorite movies as well as their favorite songs close at hand on their iPod.

Are You ALSO Groaning Under Expensive Fuel Prices?

February 28th, 2008 by toshiba27af433849

At first the world thought it had found a way out when it discovered oil. Cars could be powered on fuel from oil… planes could be powered… and most importantly machines could be powered. And with all these, progress could be made that would improve the whole of humanity.

Many years later, we are no longer so sure of that. Despite the incredible progress being made by the discovery and use of fuel from oil, we have also taken many years backwards.

This is because apart from the damage that fuel has caused to the environment, it has also caused a lot of economic damage to the income of lots of people, not only in the United States but in many other countries of the world.

Almost everyday the costs of fuel increases all over the world, whether or not the people can afford it. There are many countries that pay so much for oil that many people are forced not to own cars, just to avoid paying so high for fuel.

Many people insist that there is nothing we can do about it. Some would jokingly ask - “Or do you have an alternative to fuel?”

The good news is that YES, now we have an alternative to fuel for powering our vehicles. The BEST news is that the alternative is practically FREE.

No longer MUST we be forced to depend solely on fuel to power our vehicles. Now there’s an alternative that doesn’t cost anything to use.

Can’t wait to hear what it is? Here goes…

WATER!

Yes, you can now power your car on water as well as gas, thereby saving lots of money on gas.

How does it work?

This is the use of simple technology of putting together of home-made devices that use a little electricity out of your car’s battery to separate water into a gas called HHO (2 Hydrogen + 1 Oxygen). HHO, also known as Brown’s Gas or Hydroxy, burns beautifully and by so doing provides TONS of energy.

And the most remarkable beauty is that this pound for pound HHO gas is even much more potent than gasoline. In fact 3 times more potent than gasoline.

To get started, do your due diligence to find out more about this technology and how you too can save cost by fueling your car with water and gas, instead of 100% gas! Thankfully, on the Internet you can find information for free.

But a word of caution: ensure that you don’t depend on any information that tells you that it’s possible to run your car on 100% water. Such technology are not only too expensive but very complicated.

Water hybrid cars are the perfect solution: part water, part gasoline - and you don’t have to buy a new car!

Can You Get A Legal Music Download?

February 27th, 2008 by toshiba27af433849

Downloadable, top quality music is a really appealing concept to many people, but many of us want to stay the right side of the law. There are some compelling reasons to download music: it is a great way to check out a track or two from an unknown artist before splashing out on the CD; it offers the downloader unrivaled ease - a few moments after deciding on a track, it is yours. And streaming songs are sometimes available for instant listening.

So what is the deal with the law? Many people will remember Napster being taken to court for encouraging file-sharing for free among peers. This court case judged that people sharing files in this way are breaking the law - the fact that money isn’t changing hands and no- one is profiting from it does not matter. Of course file sharing still goes on over peer to peer (P2P) networks (though not via Napster). Interestingly, recent research has shown that P2P is increasingly being used for legitimate file sharing - photos, files and so on - and not just for swapping copyrighted material.

If you want to stay the right side of the law, you should not download copyrighted material from the Internet. But the fact that this practice continues shows how many people think downloading their tunes is the best way to go. So if you want the convenience and ease without transgressing, how do you do it?

There are a variety of ways you can do it. With a decent connection such as broadband you will be able to get access to lots of great music from Internet Radio or from other web sites that play newly released albums - it often happens that the artist and record company has approved the streaming of their recently released albums. Streaming offers you the chance to listen to the album when it is playing but without getting your own copy downloaded. Closer to going to the store and listening to it on the headphones, but in the comfort of your home. Some useful sites to visit are MP3.com, Launch.com (a Yahoo site), search for Internet Radio via Google, or go to http://www.ytube.com. On these sites you can see and listen to music videos too.

So much for streaming, but lots of us want the files on our PC so we can copy it down to our MP3 devices. It is time to look at those sites where you pay to own the tracks you want. Macintosh’s iTunes site, designed to get the best from the iPod, is at www.itunes.com - it is the top site at the moment. You are charged ninety nine cents for each song you download, but the quality is excellent and the track is yours to keep.

Other sites are always fighting for this lucrative market, each offering similar but slightly different services. There are many that work on a monthly-fee basis rather than billing by track. And a new and slightly different concept is mercora (www.mercora.com). Here you pay a small monthly fee and share tracks - you broadcast your tracks (you can make like a DJ if you want) whilst you record the tracks broadcast by others. Mercora pays a fee for broadcast rights which makes it within the law.

Most of these sites offer a free trial, so why not give a few a go, pick up some free tracks and decide which service you like best.

MP3 Players: How It All Began

February 27th, 2008 by toshiba27af433849

You have probably seen some old movies where some unruly teenager carried on his shoulders one the first “portable” audio players-a blaring cassette-tape-playing two-speaker monster (if you’re old enough, you may even have done this yourself). What can the desire of people to take their music with them do!

But the first truly portable audio player was the cassette-tape based Sony Walkman. That was extremely revolutionary in its time. This small plastic box (well, today it doesn’t seem to be very small any longer) with earphones brought on the dawn of the portable audio player and sparked a legion of imitators. The subsequent introduction of audio CDs and CD-based walkmans marked the start of the digital music age.

A relatively recent revolution in this area was the introduction of Apple’s portable music player, the iPod. Although portable mp3 players existed before it (the first mass market mp3 player, the Rio PMP300, was introduced in 1998), the iPod’s unique design, its user-friendliness, and Apple’s very good reputation for its sense of aesthetics created immense interest in the product. Soon iPod was catapulted to its current ubiquity. More than 7 out of 10 mp3 player owners today have an iPod.

Portable mp3 players today are a must-have in the “everyone-else-has-them-so-I-should-have-one-too” sense. Although they are indeed undoubtedly very handy. Especially among the younger half of the population, jumping aboard the portable music bandwagon is a way of staying cool and keeping up with the times.

MP3 format has been chosen as the most widespread. Songs of that format can be supported not only by iPods but by the majority of devices. You can enjoy MP3 music while walking, driving, cooking, or listening to your dull lectures.

The primary source of music in mp3 players today is still audio CDs, as it is now very easy to create mp3s from them (using Total Audio Converter’s rip CD option). The widespread availability of internet access, with the ability to download plenty of music (legally and illegally) is also a crucial factor in the spread of portable music players. Though there is the reverse of the medal. The songs in the web are of dozens different audio formats. What to do with some FLAC or APE song?

The solution is quite simple. Get some audio encoding/decoding tool to convert your songs to your favorite mp3. For example, Total Audio Converter (http://www.CoolUtils.com) is a brainlessly simple tool that supports almost all audio formats. No matter what source format your track is, Total Audio Converter will easily convert it to the format you need. What is important TAC was developed to be handy and suites any digital music newbie.

Today, 1 in 5 Americans, and about 11 out of 20 American teenagers, own at least one portable audio. More than 1 out of 10 older adults (aged 35-54) own an mp3 player as well. (Interestingly, two-thirds of mp3 player owners are male - girls, where are you?) From these stats alone, it’s easy to see that portable music players are definitely here to stay. And that is GREAT

Affordable Remote Video Surveillance for Everyone

February 26th, 2008 by toshiba27af433849

John was on a business trip in Europe, when his cell phone rang. He picked it up and there was a text message that read “motion has been detected at your home on camera #2″.

No one was supposed to be in his house while he was away, so this could only mean one thing, “someone has broken in”.

John immediately logged on to the Internet and in less than 2 minutes he was watching a stranger rummaging through his house. By comparison, the 10 minutes it took him to contact his hometown police department seemed pitifully slow.

“Yeah” John said “I’m watching the guy on my surveillance cameras right now, you can still catch him if you hurry”

A few minutes later the police arrived at Johns house and caught the thief just as he was leaving with a bag full of Johns stuff.

John thought to himself, “this surveillance software has just paid for itself, unlike my neighbors alarm system that calls the police every time his cat triggers a sensor”.

Home security and surveillance can be an indispensable tool for keeping an eye on things while your not there. Video surveillance software allows you to use your home computer monitor as your viewing platform, and involves minimal set up using inexpensive software to connect your security cameras with a home network.

Applications can include doorway or gate security, grounds surveillance, or you can even view a hidden nanny cam right from a computer monitor inside your home. Or by logging in through the Internet to view your surveillance cameras, you can view what your security cameras see from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection.

In the past, it was quite expensive to maintain and implement such security systems because they were tied to expensive recorders and other fancy hardware components. CCTV Systems and other high-tech surveillance systems can cost anywhere from a few hundred dollars up to many thousands of dollars. But now, you can turn your computer into a powerful surveillance system at a fraction of a regular security system cost.

These surveillance software packages have no monthly fees, which means that for a small one-time cost you can have remote video surveillance for a lifetime.

Most of these software surveillance systems are easy and quick to setup and require only a very basic knowledge of networking. Some of them only require you to place the CD in your computers CD drive, and the software will walk you through the process in about 5 or 10 minutes.

These surveillance software packages can be used with wired or wireless security cameras. A high quality video stream will be viewable from a computer within your home, or from anywhere with an Internet connection. One such software package that I have discovered is the Visec security software. For around $100, you can install, set up, and immediately start viewing up to four surveillance cameras, remotely, from anywhere in the world.

Using your computer’s IP address to log on, you can view live or past video, and many of these software packages even allow for a “motion detection mode” which will record video activity just when motion is detected.

They can even be set up to alert you by email, cell phone or PDA when motion is detected.

While these streaming surveillance videos can be viewed with a dial up connection, a High Speed Cable or DSL Internet connection is recommended. The use of a dial-up modem will tend to give you a choppy video due to the slow bandwidth speed of the connection, whereas a high-speed Internet connection will allow for a much smoother real-time video.

Music, Movies and Portables Are Alive and Well

February 26th, 2008 by toshiba27af433849

There was whispering awhile back that iPod and MP3s were going to die off due to new technology forecasts. But Apple sure put a fast stop to these rumors by releasing news of its plan, in conjunction with automakers, to include factory-connections for iPods, and more importantly, its new iPod version.

Apple unveiled the new iPod on September 12, and it is a winner! The new iPod is a 5th generation toy with capacity sizes of 30GB and a giant 80GB. The 30 GB gives the listener 14 hours of music play, while the 80GB gives up to 20 hours. Both sizes give you a 2.5 inch color display with a 60% brighter display according to Apple.

The newest player has received excellent reviews far and wide, with PC Magazine giving it their prestigious Editor’s Choice Award.

With everything these little toys are capable of, users will continue to listen to songs, watch movies and videos, play games, listen to audio books, view photos and watch TV shows for a very long time to come.

The technology is amazing and Apple continues to lead the way in portable entertainment. With the news of a breakthrough in laser-transmitted signals, the amount of information that will be able to be transmitted from processors even faster and more effectively has all techies waiting for the newest breakout in technology to be available for the general public. But alas, the news of this laser breakthrough also states it will be a couple more years before the tech community will be able to harness this power for you and I.

That’s okay though…with the amazing breakthroughs over just the last couple of years, time is going very quickly when it comes to upgrading technologies we already have and enjoying the ultra-fast journey. The journey seems to begin anew every 3 - 6 months, doesn’t it?

Available downloads for all kinds of portable players are all over the web. Some sites are quite distrustful, and others are easy to acknowledge as safe. As with all things in life…common sense rules!

So, let’s enjoy what we have, and look towards the future with anticipation. We will get our collective socks knocked off again and again if the past is any indication.
